Hypocrisy, in its truest form, is to say one thing whist you INTEND to
do another. Virtually nobody, for example, would say that it's OK to
tell a lie; however, we all know from experience that we all do, from
time to time. Hypocrites? Or just human beings?
People are imperfect. If your definition of hypocrisy is any deviation
from stated values whatsoever, then there's not a single creature in the
world (outside of those who have no values whatsoever) that's not a
hypocrite.
And, if we're ALL hypocrites, then what's the big deal when you find
somebody that is?
Personally, I prefer people who have values as opposed to those who have
none, even though the former group leaves themselves open to criticism
if and when they fail.
Was Larry Craig a hypocrite? Evidence points in that direction. Clinton?
Well, I recall in 1992 an accusation that the Clinton's had an "open
marriage", which Bill denied. So, if he said that *intending* to chase
some chicks are soon as the interview was over, that's hypocrisy. OTOH,
if it was his INTENTION to be a faithful guy when he said that, that'
s not hypocrisy. That's just a guy screwing up (again.)
I'll make it easy for you. If you use the more rigid definition of
hypocrisy (declaring a value, and failing to live up to it, regardless
of circumstance) then 100% of all religious people are hypocrites.
See? Now you don't have to wait around for "it" to happen. You already
know. You can go read a book or something.
