Market News: Norwegian gas pipe may be shut all winter
LONDON, Aug 20 (Reuters) - The leaking gas pipeline between Norway's
Kvitebjoern platform and the processor at Kollsnes will remain closed
all winter unless repair work planned for next spring can be brought
forward, a spokeswoman for field operator StatoilHydro said on
Wednesday.
The company discovered a leak on the gas pipeline on Tuesday evening
and is yet to establish how to stop gas from escaping from it but
already planned wider repair work next year.
"It will be shut down until when we get it repaired, and that is
currently set for spring 2009, unless we manage to push this forward,"
she said.
"But we don't have any date other than spring 2009 to communicate
today."
