Before you even think about doing business with Ratchford, do yourself
a favor and go to the Google files for this newsgroup at
http://groups.google.com/group/misc.invest.futures/about.
This shows all the messages year by year and month by month going back
to October of 1994 and, although it really is a complete waste of
time, just use the FIND feature on your browser to search for
"Ratchford." It won't take you long to find long diatribes that he
made years ago claiming how BOLD his forecasts were, but more
interesting is how many people ... even then ... thought he was
dishonest and was playing the same kinds of games that he plays to
this day.
Of course, once he realized that people could track all his crap this
way, he tried to make it harder (or at least more annoying and time
consuming) by using a myriad of different names and addresses, even if
it was clear that he was the author. For example. after only about 10
minutes of searching, I found the following two messages:

THE LATEST SCAM FROM RATCHFORD
Our vendor Richard Ratchford, a CTA regulated by the CFTC, recently
(August 10th) posted in the TFC forum that he had a new software
package for sale, he called it the Gann Square Timer v1.0. He went on
to demonstrate how the product worked and posted the link to take
interested parties to his web page. The price was offered at $125 with
a lower price for his membership $80 and $99. There was no special
offer indicated, any restrictions or any date to indicate a
promotional offer.
Today is August 16th and a visit to the vendor's web site shows the
software still for sale but the price has now increased to $225, a
typo you ask? I doubt it the membership prices are $145 and $160. The
other big change is the software is now NOT available to the general
public. In order to obtain the software you have to buy at a minimum
an 8 week membership, the cost $225 plus the software cost $225 =
$450.
To be clear what was advertised to the general public for $125 6 days
ago is now $450.
Is the increase in price due to a sudden increase in costs? doubtful.
Is it related to the bombardment of promotional activity by the
vendor? could well be. (more on that in part2)
The one question a prospective buyer should ask of the vendor, is it
your normal business practice to bait and switch like this?
The vendor is a CTA, the CFTC and the public ought to be concerned by
his activities and methods of conducting business.

Gee, I wonder who could this be?
How's that British Pound forecast doing? A bottom on 8/25, with +/- 1
week? On the Monday (8/21) beginning that week, the BP0U made a low of
1.4870. On 8/25, BP made a low of 1.4708. On Friday Sept.1, it made a
low of 1.4468. Even giving you the benefit of the doubt by giving you
a 2 week period to nail a bottom, your forecast failed. BP made new
low today of 1.4184. I guess the F in Fdate stands for FAILURE.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
If you really had the interest (and I can't imagine why you would),
you could find literally THOUSANDS of messages like this. He has been
running the same con game for all these years and REALLY thinks that
he is fooling people. This is also why he has started a number of so-
called "forums" of which is the anonymous moderator and simply removes
posts that question him or his methods. It has all been spelled out in
detail here on mif.
I have been a long time critic of Rick Ratchford, but all I can
suggest is that you look at the old files and make up your own mind.
