I was just wondering if someone can recommend a bank that provides a
good interest rate on a savings or certificate of deposit
account.

I have a high-yield money market with Capital One. It's not the absolute
highest interest rate possible (5.00% APY) but it has a low minimum and
no fees to worry about. The only negative I've noticed with it is that
it takes something like 2 weeks for funds to become available after a
deposit. But that's fine for my needs, so I don't care much. It's an
internet-only rate. So overall it's pretty OK.

Also, when I was searching for it, I found the following three sources
of leads on similar accounts:

You may wish to take a look at ING.

The following site provides rates at several banks.

In another post someone suggested ING Direct. They are
currently at 4.4%. You could also try other online savings
accounts like Emigrant Direct or HSBC Direct which offer
5.05%.
